GRIVIS SAMPOO

This composition contains ketoconazole and zinc Pyrithione which is used to treat dandruff. Pyrithione acts as ionophore and interacts with membrane to initiate the entry of copper into the membrane. Ketoconazole increases cellular permeability when there is reduced level of ergosterol.

Ketoconazole belongs to the imidazole class of antifungal drugs. It is preferred over other antifungal drugs because it has broad spectrum activity and have good absorption.

Zinc Pyrithione is the complex which is formed by the chelation of zinc ions with Pyrithione. it has both antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is used to treat dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis.

  • Dandruff
  • Seborrheic Dermatitis
  • Blastomycosis
  • Candiasis

Mechanism of action:

Ketoconazole inhibits the enzyme 14-alpha sterol demethylase which emphasize on the synthesis of ergosterol synthesis by lanosterol.

Zinc Pyrithione works by increasing the concentration of copper and damages the clusters of iron-sulphur which is necessary for the metabolism and growth of proteins in fungus.
